Established in 2000, the Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) Library serves as a cornerstone of academic support for the University’s teaching, research, and cultural inheritance. Aligned with the development goals of both the Macao Special Administrative Region (Macao SAR) and the University, it is positioned as a research-oriented academic library while also serving multiple institutional functions as the Data Solutions, University History Museum, Archives, and Museum. In recent years, the Library has been committed to strengthening its support for disciplinary development and innovation, research translation, and smart learning. It has developed a specialized and systematic data and digital resource ecosystem, integrated smart services and librarian assistance, refined service standards, enhanced international and domestic exchanges and collaboration, and created a high-standard, sustainable smart digital library.
Deputy University Librarian
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist the University Librarian in overseeing the Library’s operations and participate in the formulation of strategic plans, annual action plans, reports, administrative policies, and operational workflows.
Be responsible for library collection development, space and facilities management, user services, and the application of relevant technologies, including artificial intelligence.
Coordinate and manage the operations of library branch(es).
Facilitate teaching and research initiatives through library support services.
Perform other duties as assigned by the University and library leadership.
Requirements:
A master’s degree or higher in Information Management, Library Science, Information Science, Archival Science, or a related discipline.
A minimum of 10 consecutive years of professional experience in libraries, including at least 6 years in library management roles, with prior experience as a department head or in an equivalent supervisory position.
Comprehensive professional knowledge, coupled with strong coordination and communication skills.
Demonstrated research capability and a proven record of academic publications.
Familiarity with the operational procedures and management of a comprehensive university library, and a sound understanding of its distinctive functions and services.
Familiarity with the operating models and current developments of library consortia and library resource-sharing initiatives, with experience in domestic and international exchange and cooperation.
Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English and Chinese.
